The 4.4GHz overclock delivered just under 3% more performance in the Pass 1 test and 12% more in Pass 2. This allowed the FX-8150 to overtake the Phenom II X6 1100T, but it was still much slower than the i5-2500K and i7-2600K. CINEBENCH R11.5 OpenGL saw no performance gain when overclocking the FX-8150, though the CPU score increased 17%.

They introduced 3D audio and ray tracing, and console users got higher frame rates – all free for those who already own the games. PC users didn’t like some of the strings attached, however. The patch dropped support for DirectX 11 and Windows 7. Alone that probably isn’t a big deal — May’s Steam Hardware survey shows that 91 percent of players can use DirectX 12 while 95 percent are on Windows 10 or 11....

Potentially achieving performance close to that of a SandForce SF-2281 SSD with a 1TB storage capacity was very appealing, however there were some notable drawbacks. At $485 (since dropped to $330), the RevoDrive sounds like reasonable value at $0.48 per gigabyte (in SSD terms), but in reality the RevoDrive Hybrid performed nothing like a high-end SSD in most tests. As a result, we had a hard time recommending OCZ’s hybrid solution....
Testing Crysis 3 at 1680x1050 on medium quality saw the GTX 680 top our graph with 79fps, while the GTX 670 trailed closely with 75fps and the HD 7970GHz Edition delivered 70fps – 3fps than the standard 7970. The dated GTX 580 was able to average 60fps, slightly behind the HD 7950 Boost, while the regular 7950 was surprisingly slow at 55fps, setting it just behind the GTX 660. The bottom of the list is home to the HD 5870 with only 33fps – playable, but less than ideal in our opinion....
With the high quality preset being so taxing, we wondered if there was any point in testing on a more intensive setting. But we did, and things aren’t pretty – or, well, they’re too pretty. At 1680x1050, the GTX 680 managed 44fps and stood as the only card to exit the 30fps range, which is populated with the GTX 670, HD 7970, GTX 660 Ti and HD 7950 Boost, though anything below the HD 7970 GHz Edition is pushing it in our opinion....
There’s no doubt the 60fps frame cap will infuriate those running higher end hardware but in all honestly this isn’t a game that requires higher frame rates – not like a competitive first person shooter would, for example. Gaming at 1440p will require a GTX 970 or R9 Fury for best results though the R9 380X will also work well. When it comes to CPU performance the game isn’t hugely demanding though to get the most out of your graphics card(s) you will want a Core i7, i5 or high clocked FX processor....

Picking apart the visual quality differences between the ‘Ultra’ and ‘Very High’ quality presets is rather difficult. Frankly, they are so similar we don’t see the point in going for Ultra. However taking it another notch down to Medium we can see quite a noticeable decline in visual quality. Please note there is a High quality setting positioned between Medium and Very High but we found the performance difference between high and very high was minimal for some of the lower end GPUs....

Deus Ex Mankind Divided provided some very interesting results indeed and we are going to look at these a little differently. What’s interesting to note here is that the 7700K with both graphics cards and the 1800X with the RX 480 all provided much the same performance regardless of the API used. Focus your attention on the 1800X with the GTX 1060. Now the DX12 results. Here we see that it’s really just the 1800X with the GTX 1060 that changes by any kind of significant margin....
Frontier has announced it’s cancelling the launch of its most recent expansion for the console versions of Elite Dangerous. Going forward, consoles will only receive critical updates for the multiplayer space sim while the PC version will still receive updates for current and future expansions. Frontier founder David Braben explained that since the last expansion titled Odyssey, development of Elite has proceeded on two codebases: one for Odyssey players and another for console players as well as PC players who hadn’t purchased Odyssey....

On Monday, the European Commission (EC) issued a statement of objections against Apple restricting NFC payment capabilities exclusively to its Apple Pay service. According to the commission, it is an abuse of the company’s dominant position and is against European Union (EU) competition laws. The determination comes on the heels of a probe initiated last week looking into the matter. In a preliminary conclusion, commission executive vice president Margrethe Vestager said some payment services canceled plans for NFC payment functionality because they wouldn’t be able to reach iPhone users....
Grand Theft Auto V was tested with the maximum quality settings enabled along with all the advanced graphic options. That said MSAA wasn’t enabled and instead we relied on FXAA. Even at 4K a single GTX 1080 was able to provide playable performance at 60fps. Enabling the second card boosted performance further to an incredible 103fps on the GX800. Far Cry Primal isn’t exactly smooth at 4K using a single GTX 1080 with all the image quality settings maxed out....
State-run Anadolu Agency reports that İzzet Koçak tried fitting VR headsets on two of his cows. Koçak ran a simulation of a summer field while playing classical music for the cows to take their minds off of being densely packed together in a barn. To make the human-sized headsets fit onto the cows, Koçak used one on each eye. After about 10 days, they gave more and better milk. One went from 22 liters to 27 liters of milk....
